Your homepage is your digital storefront. It needs to do more than just look pretty—it should welcome visitors, build trust, and guide them toward booking.
Clear Branding
The moment someone lands on your site, they should know exactly who you are, what you do, and who you serve. Use a headline that speaks to your audience emotionally (“Capturing love stories in every light”) and follow with a short intro that highlights your niche—whether that’s elegant elopements or grand destination weddings.
Striking Hero Image
Your hero image is your visual handshake. Choose a single, high-resolution photo that represents your signature style. Pair it with a visible CTA button like “View Portfolio” or “Check Availability.” Keep the header clean—avoid clutter or moving sliders that distract from the message.
Social Proof & Testimonials
We trust people more than we trust brands. A few heartfelt testimonials can turn curiosity into confidence. Place one or two near the top of the homepage to validate your work early on.
Easy Navigation
Even on beautifully artistic sites, functionality matters. Make sure your menu links are clear and scroll to key sections: About, Portfolio, Pricing, and Contact. On mobile, that menu should be clean and thumb-friendly.
Your website colors should feel like your photography: honest, intentional, and emotionally resonant. The palette is often the first thing people feel, even before they read a word.
Reflect Your Brand & Style
Choose a palette that complements your editing style. Soft film tones? Think pastels and neutrals. Moody edits? Earth tones or desaturated hues. Bright and modern? Clean whites with accent colors. Your colors should echo the emotions you create behind the lens.
Keep It Consistent
Stick to 2–3 primary colors with 1–2 accents. Use them across your website—buttons, headings, backgrounds—to build trust and recognition. Pair them with ample white space to let your images breathe.
Consider Accessibility
Make sure there’s enough contrast between text and background. Soft doesn’t have to mean unreadable. Tools like WebAIM’s contrast checker can help you choose colors that are both beautiful and accessible.

No need to be an SEO expert to get noticed online. With a few simple steps, you can make your wedding photography website more discoverable without getting overwhelmed.
Prioritize Speed & Mobile Experience
Google favors websites that load fast and look good on phones. Use a lightweight theme, compress your images, and test your site on mobile. Tools like GTmetrix or PageSpeed Insights can show you what’s slowing things down.
Optimize Your Images
Rename image files to include descriptive keywords (e.g., paris-sunset-wedding.jpg). Add alt text that describes the photo in natural language. Not only is this good for SEO—it also helps with accessibility.
Use Strategic Keywords
Think like your client. They’re not searching for “portfolio,” they’re searching for “elopement photographer in Santorini” or “romantic wedding photos Tuscany.” Use these kinds of terms in your homepage title, section headers, and metadata.
Internal Linking Matters
If you’re blogging, link your blog posts back to your homepage, portfolio, or pricing section. This helps search engines understand the structure of your site—and keeps people exploring longer.
Keep Your Content Fresh
Google loves an active site. Update image galleries regularly. Remove outdated info. Even small tweaks to wording can help search engines re-crawl and re-evaluate your site.
